Korea is really famous of cell phone. Our technology is really advanced than other countries’ technology. Many Koreans feel really proud of this, and of course so do I. I used cell phone, since 12 years old. At that time, almost all of my friends had cell phone. (of course their own.) So, I really want one too like other friends. After all, my parents let me have one, so I bought one.

Korea’s cell phone technology is really good as I said above. Korea is strong for IT. Actually, there are many companies, I mean, strong electronic machine. Sony, Samsung, Apple, LG, and so on. It is quite famous all over the world. I love that brand as well. Those companies grow really fast and well.

Recently, I heard that I-Phone was come out. It is really advanced cell phone. I wanted to try at Apple Center, but there were so many people that I couldn’t try it. Anyway, it seems that it is really popular among people.

As time goes, there will be more advanced cell-phone will be come out. It will contain the function like TV, Satellite TV, computer, and so on. It would be really nice! If I have just a cell phone, it might be possible to do all tings! How interesting and expecting future!

I hope Korea and all the other countries which is strong from IT, will make good products like TV, cell phone, radio, and other IT products to make mankind’s life more fertilize.

Portland Duck Tour

Do you know what kind of TV programs which ducks watch? It’s a duckumentary! I heard this joke from our tour guide, Portland Duck Tour. Since my uncle and older cousin came to Portland from L.A to see me, all of my family (grandfather, grandmother, and aunt.) went to Portland Duck Tour. It was quite interesting, not because of the thing I saw but because of the boat we rode. The boat can run normal road and water. Like a duck! (So they named after the tour’s name from ducks.) It was really excited, though many of my family members dozed include me.

We saw whole city, old town, new town, and China town. Actually, I, grandparents, and aunt went all of there, so it was kind of boring but to my uncle and cousin, it was really excited. To me it was like doing city tour at Seoul. (my hometown) Somehow, tour was 2 hours and it was nice.

Before boarding, they gave us a duck toy, which can blow and then it comes a sound like duck. Everyone, include senior, blew it. It was funny. Moreover, when we went to downtown, everybody looked at us and surprised. Tour guide said that since the tour has been made only 1 year, people might think that “What the hell is that?!” HaHa. It was really funny and everybody who saw us grinned largely. It was quite nice to get a attention to somebody. It was really interesting, and I waved my hands to them and they did same as me. It was really fun tour.

Romantic Love VS True Love

Everybody dream about romantic love, and probably many of them or all of them experience romantic love. However, actually many mass media only shows romantic love’s positive sides, and people just accept it as their dreaming love. Therefore many people don’t know what’s going on in this cruel world. They think divorce and trouble with mother-in-law is just far far away story from them.

I am eighteen years old. I am pretty young. However, I am not young to fall in love with somebody. Actually, I already met my first love and we dated about one year and we broke up about one year ago. Maybe, many adults think I am too young to experience serious feeling of love. However, I felt love and I convinced that it was romantic love, at least at the time we were dating. It was romantic love, but that’s it. It is the end of the romantic love. Not just for me but all the couples in the world. If they broke up, there’s no romantic all around. There’s even no things left, during the time couple loving each other.

Then what about true love? I pursue the true love more than romantic love. Romantic love can always happen, but now true love. True love is the one thing in one’s life. Romantic love lasts while dating, but true love lasts forever. You probably know many people that can’t forget his of her ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend. It is true love. I don’t mean that love your present girlfriend or boyfriend forever, but if you think and convince that she or he is your real love than don’t let him or her go! Catch her or him.

Actually, this moment, while I am writing this, my whole think of love is shaking. I mean I actually don’t know well. It always changes, according to my mind. However, this is certain that always true love win the romantic love.

Spider Woman

Most girls hate insects and bugs. Of course, so do I. Also I am really afraid of it. I rather fall in love with ghost! One creature that I can deal with is mosquito. Just mosquito. Sometimes, I can manage to deal with tiny tiny tiny bugs. But it is really rare.

Also one interesting thing is that bugs and insects love me! They rush to me, I hate them, though. I don’t know why but just… They like me. Oh… I hate them…!!!

Last night was almost nightmare. I was writing something on the computer and I found something coming down to me. I was frozen. I can’t move. I can’t see my side, because I knew what it was. Actually, I didn’t know exactly what it is but I knew it was some bugs. I sighed largely, and turn my head to that ‘thing’. O H M Y G O D ! ! ! It was spider!!! It was really tiny but it was enough to scare me. I was totally freaked out. Then I saw the ceiling. It was almost hundreds of spiders were there!!! Gosh! I screamed and one of my friends came to my room. We should figure out what to do, so we went to RA’s room but she was sleeping. In the end, I slept at friend’s room and he slept at outside. It was so horrible night!

Today, I went to market and bought insecticide and spray it all over my room and even at friend’s room. It was so horrible night with SPIDER!

American Politics

Actually I hate politics so when teacher said we will study basic about American Politic, I was almost freaked out. I even don’t know Korean politics and have no interest in politics and… “What?!” However more I read the contents the more I have interested in. America has quite similar system with Korean’s, so it was kind of easy to understand the texts. The problem was ‘words’. At the first time, I didn’t know difference between ‘House’ and ‘house’ so I thought the two houses indicate same meaning. At last, I figured out that House is the short word for ‘House of Representatives’ and house is the higher concept of Senate and House. Moreover, because I didn’t check the word which I don’t know what it means at first read, so I didn’t know the meaning of the Senate and House. Anyway, still there were and there are many confusing things to me but it is quite fun to know other country’s politics.

Among the United States of American’s politics, most interesting part to me was ‘Election Process’. I used to think America’s election method is kind of unfair and I still think like that. In the United States of America, the people don’t vote to candidates directly. They vote to electors who will vote to candidates. This system has many problems. For example, if a candidate A got ten votes from Portland and candidate B got twelve votes from Portland. In Los Angeles, candidate A got eighteen votes and candidate B got ten votes. Meanwhile there are five and eight electors each State. Then totally, candidate A got twenty eight votes and candidate B got twenty two votes and it seems candidate A will be a president. In deed, however, president will be candidate B according to the number of the electors. This is a truly unfair system.

After studying American politics, it was really useful and felt good that I know something more about America’s politics than past me. Moreover it was really great that not only I learnt more about American politics, but also I learnt politics term in English.

About Gender Equality

Gender Equality

In traditional Korea there were many bars to women and still it is handed downing. Long time ago, women even could not learn and of course they can’t receive proper education. Moreover if they married women’s life would totally ruined because of the trouble with mother-in-law. Usually mother-in-law bugged her daughter-in-law heavily. They even can’t say anything although their mother-in-law saying ridiculous thing and women can’t even eat meal with men or just being with men. Basically Korean women lived without freedom.

Actually my father-side-grandmother is really accustomed to this inequality and used to treat me in that way since when I was young, so I really hated grandmother. I have 4 father-side-cousins. They are all boys, older than me and live in States. So when they came to Korea they stayed my house and then grandmother’s hysteria going even harder. For example, one of my cousins was sitting more near to the refrigerator and cousin said he want ice water and then my grandmother said me to take out the water. I accepted that saying because I am a hostess but I was so embarrassed because she said like “Chi-Eun, because you are a woman you should take out the water.” I was like ‘What?!’. Not because I am a hostess or younger but because I am a GIRL? That was so ridiculous to me and I can’t accept it. Actually it was tiny incident and I could just pass but I can’t forget about it. Besides when I and grandmother visited their house even there I had to clean up all the stuff and prepare meal. Moreover my cousins even slept at the second floor and grandmother allowed them to do so. Wow….!

Whenever I think all the stories which happened to me like that I get really angry. In the world there are still many cases like that. Women can’t success than men in society and there are lots of stereotypes toward women like women are weak and can’t do what men do. That is literally just ‘stereotype’. Indeed, there are some things which women can’t do but we should know this. We can distinguish between women and men but we should not discriminate against women. They are same, they are both mankind which we should respect. I am not saying this because I am a women, but as one of the mankind.

You Are Special to Me

Probably many people love to listen to music or play musical instrument and so do I. I love music and also I love to play the piano and drums. I believe there is a special connection between music and me and I can feel it.

I grew up in a musical family. My grandmother majored in singing and my aunt is a pianist in States. So when I was young my family pressed me to major the piano therefore I major it until 13 years old but at that time I dislike piano because I don’t have any motivation of it and even I didn’t enjoyed it. Then when I was in middle school and high school, I played piano at school orchestra. From that time I really enjoyed to play the piano. I knew unconsciously and I know now certainly that piano is not main way of my life but side. However piano and my private connection will be last forever, I believe.

Also there is a one episode about piano and me. After I enter the university I was anguishing about what school club should I join and after all I joined social volunteering club and jazz band.(I played there drums.) Then I went to school chapel and I saw school choir. First I thought I really want to join that but soon I realized that I already joined two clubs and three might be so many. Therefore I decided to forget about it. Then after 1 week, I played the piano at the empty classroom and suddenly one girl came into and asked me to join school choir! In other words I was scouted!!! I was so surprised and thought this is a God’s will to make me play the piano steadily, so I joined it. If I were not in that classroom, if she were not there and if she and I were there at different time this won’t happened. I can’t believe this until now.

Drum is also special to me. I learnt drum when I was in high school from friend. I learnt the basic beat and then I taught myself how to play drums and I played drums at church during the chapel for about 2 years. Then after graduated high school I and some of my friends made Fusion Christian Band. Of course I played drum in that band. After enter the university I joined jazz band club and made another extra band with senior and friends. Moreover with friends I participated in Christian Music Competition. It is one of the most unforgettable memories among this year. I really love to play drum and also love to listen band music carefully and find what sound is what instrument.

From when I was young and until now, people who know me can’t think of me and music separately. I like that principal and want that think last forever. Nowadays I think… Maybe actually I have no musical talent. I just tamed of music and just do well as well as other musicians. But I satisfied with it. It’s enough. God blessed me with music. I believe.
